Shungu, Mungu, Ungu



Pour éviter toute complication, je vais aller droit au but. Le parallélisme est étonnement extraordinaire.

Selon Damir Ben Ali, la finalité du Shungu est de construire « l’humain » (Undru), d’où la célèbre expression l’homme accomplit (Mdru mdzima). L’homme arrive à un stade où il fait qu’un avec la société et épouse la nature.

« Ibn Rochd (Averroès) de son côté  en est convaincu : seul le savoir procure la plénitude d’une vie heureuse. Chaque homme, chaque femme, doit trouver sa voie et y exceller ; de l’excellence des individus sortira l’excellence de la société. » (Abderrahim Bouzelmate, Averroès Ibn Rochd, philosophe de l’humanité, page 142, éditions Albouraq, 2021)

Regardons de plus près la signification profonde du système Shungu, d’après les explications de Soeuf Elbadawi : 

« Damir Ben Ali parle d’un processus vivant de socialisation. L‘anthropologue part d’un postulat simple. La nature donne naissance à une créature, qui, pour prétendre à une forme d’humanité (undru), se doit de commettre certains actes, inscrits dans un cycle d’existence communautaire. Autrement dit, nous devenons « homme », mais nous ne le sommes pas, à la base. Il laisse entendre que l’humanité n’est pas cette chose acquise, donnée d’avance. Il faut la chercher, la construire, durant toute une vie, en instaurant une dynamique de partage, avec nos semblables. Il est presque question d’une quête. Pour atteindre à l‘unicité, nous serions à la recherche de cette humanité enfouie, dont il faut rassembler les morceaux épars. Cette idée me parle beaucoup, en ces temps d’arrogance et de déni. Le mot « shungu », au départ, relève de cette réalité-là, celle du partage, celle de la relation, du rapport à l‘Autre. »

Une phrase nous intéresse particulièrement dans ces explications données par Soeuf Elbadawi, parce qu’elle fait directement le lien avec la théorie d’Averroès sur l’intellect : « Il laisse entendre que l’humanité n’est pas cette chose acquise, donnée d’avance. » Pour Averroès qui défend l’idée selon laquelle l’humanité est « une, solidaire et interdépendante », cette philosophie est basée sur sa théorie de l’intellect unique, qui explique que l’humanité tout entière se partage le même intellect. Il rajoute dans cette théorie que cet intellect (ankili) est séparé de l’homme. Il n’est jamais acquis, et que l’homme doit passer par une jonction :

« On touche là à une caractéristique saillante de la philosophie d’Averroès, qui est de lier la question politique à celle de la fin dernière de l’homme, à savoir l’achèvement de son intellect. Cette perfection a un cadre politique, la cité, qui doit être gouvernée par le philosophe, l’homme arrivé à la perfection intellectuelle. Il incarne à lui seul la perfection de l’espèce humaine, puisque l’intellect parfait est universel, et à ce titre, l’homme parfait est placé à la tête de la société. Selon cet idéal, exprimé dans le Commentaire à la République de Platon, le philosophe est habilité à régir la société de sorte à assurer le maximum de leur perfection relative aux humains qui ne sont pas eux-mêmes absolument parfaits, en instaurant des conditions telles que chaque humain puisse arriver à sa perfection relative, à exercer au mieux sa propre fonction dans la société, la coopération de l’ensemble des hommes ayant ultimement pour but d’assurer l’existence du philosophe parfait. Or la science de l’âme, qui culmine avec la démonstration de la possibilité d’une jonction avec l’intelligence séparée, démontre ce qu’est le rang intellectuel du philosophe parfait, et à ce titre, fournit le « principe » de la science politique. »

On apprend que le Shungu est le départ de l’histoire de cet archipel des Comores, il est plus complexe que le Anda. Ce sont les Mafe/Mafani qui sont à l’origine de ce concept de Shungu. Il est fort probable qu’il nous vient de l’Égypte antique. Si les Comores étaient une maison, le Shungu serait la fondation, la base. C’est un principe fondamental qu’on trouve sur tous les aspects de la vie comorienne. Le Anda n’est qu’un aspect du Shungu.

Mieux encore, le mot « Mungu »(Dieu en comorien et en swahili) et « Shungu » on la même racine « ungu » dont le philosophe, linguiste et historien rwandais Alexis Kagame explique que «  cette racine ungu à l’état dérivé, est unga au stade primaire. Nous la retrouvons dans le verbe kuunga=joindre, du kiSwahili même. »  
Cela nous renvoi extraordinairement et directement au mot comorien « Hunganya= joindre » qu’on trouve, là aussi une similitude sur ce que Alexis Kagame rajoute en disant qu’en « Kitabwe(…) et en kikongo sous la forme dérivée kulungana=s’assembler, se réunir(…) Il résulte que grâce à la forme Muungu du kiSwahili, la signification étymologique de Murungu a pu être fixé avec certitude. Ce qui est absolument extraordinaire dans ces mots hunganya=joindre, kuunga=joindre ou Muungu=Celui-qui-joint, est le fait que le mot « jonction » est au cœur de la philosophie averroïste de l’unité de l’intellect : « Pour Averroès, la jonction avec l’intelligence première est possible si l’intellect est le miroir de nos fantasmes. En plus, cela vient résoudre le problème de la production et de l’individuation de la pensée. J.-B. Brenet nous dit donc que « l’on peut en déduire que l’image est à l’espèce intelligible ce que la lumière d’un corps lumineux est à l’illumination du diaphan : une cause active. ». En fait, pour Averroès les images sont à la base de l’universel. Autrement dit, si pour penser il faut s’en détacher (penser au sens de s’assimiler à Dieu), les images sont pour autant un passage nécessaire à la saisie de l’intelligible. »

Dibombari MBOCK nous apprend dans la vidéo d’en haut que cette racine « ungu » / « ongo » qui a donné « Kongo » remonte au nom « Kemit »(Égypte) d’après les langues de l’Egypte antique et de l’Ethiopie. La question qu’on se pose, est-ce qu’il y a un lien entre la philosophie autour « ungu, Mungu, Shungu » et la philosophie grecque sur l’intellect ? Dont certains philosophes grecs comme Alexandre d’Aphrodise (150-215) associent l’intellect agent à Dieu. Mais aussi et surtout que le philosophe Platon, qui a influencé Aristote, est connu pour avoir fait un voyage en Egypte. Autre hypothèse qui n’est pas de moindre, est l’origine nubienne (Égypte, Soudan) de Luqmân qui veut dire que le plus grand sage du Coran était noir. Le Coran le désigne par ces termes « Nous avons donné, en vérité, la sagesse à Luqman, en lui disant : « Sois reconnaissant envers Dieu. »( Sourate 31, verset 12). Et si la philosophie du « Shungu », son jeu de mots avec « Mungu » et sa racine « ungu » nous vient de la sagesse de Luqman. Qui d’ailleurs, son pays d’origine le Soudan actuel n’est pas loin de l’Égypte et de l’Éthiopie.

Tout ceci nous pousse à voir dans le célèbre philosophe, sultan et poète comorien Mbaye Trambwe wa sultan Ntibe Mlanao (1740-1815) comme l’aboutissement d’une façon parfaite du concept Shungu : « toute sa politique fut consacrée au maintien de la paix entre les sultanats gouvernés par ses fils et petits-fils. » (Damir Ben Ali, Massénde Chami-Allaoui, Mbaye Trambwe, poèmes, pensées et fragments, page 11, komedit, 2020).
